Part Time Positions

Program Specialist

Plans, organizes, promotes & implements a diversified program in two or more of BGCCV's core program areas (Healthy Lifestyles, Academic Success & Character & Leadership). Plans, promotes, organizes, coordinates, and leads a specialized program (i.e.: Smart Moves; Passport to Manhood).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare youth for success

  • Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Promotes and stimulates daily program participation as well as participation in designated national and special event programs.
  • Orients new members to programs, special events, and opportunities as well as club safety, program and disciplinary rules.
  • Provides guidance and role modeling to members.

Program

  • Implements, monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities for members.
  • Monitors and evaluates programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members and quality in programs.
  • Recognizes club members for program participation and achievement.
  • Maintains records to track attendance and participation.

Supervision

  • Maintains order and positive discipline of club members.
  • Ensures a productive work environment by participating in club staff meetings.

Supplies

  • Monitors supply needs and orders required supplies through approved vendors and within budget.
  • Keeps supply room neat and orderly.

Facility

  • Insures program area is attractive, neat and clean and bulletin boards and notices are current.
  • Makes and/or recommends needed repairs to facility and/or equipment.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participates as part of a team to run quality programs by helping out where needed or directed, which may include driving the club van.
  • Participates in training/educational opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of three years where:
  • There is experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.
  • Formal training, and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to deal with the general public.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality learning programs for youth.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to see, hear, speak, walk, stand and sit is required to effectively perform essential job responsibilities.

Full Time Positions


Teen Center Director


The Teen Center Director provides organization-wide leadership managing daily operations at one or more club facilities to in-school teens (13 or older) and alumni (ages 18-24) to position the Boys & Girls Club of the Chattahoochee Valley as the premier youth development organization in the region. The Teen Center Director provides direction and oversight to all programming inside his/her facility, manages budgets, staff and equipment, promotes safety, manages disciplinary issues with Club members and parents, develops community partnerships particularly with schools and develops and implements programs to attract participants and drive youth development outcomes. While the Teen Center Director reports to the Unit Director associated with his/her facility, the Teen Center Director also works very closely with the Director of College & Career Readiness Programs and all other Teen Center Directors to both design and implement a uniform teen engagement and development program across the organization and, in particular, programming that ensures all teens develop a plan for their life after high school to pursue either employment, enlistment, entrepreneurship or enrolling in a post-secondary educational institution. 


KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED


  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • Three or more years of successful experience working in a nonprofit or youth development agency in an operations, program delivery or management role
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations; in personnel supervision, the recruitment and retention of key personnel; and budget management
  • Experience developing and implementing positive youth development programs
  • The ability to manage and motivate a team of youth development professionals
  • The ability to manage behavior and motivate individuals ages 13 through 24 
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with children and their parents / caregivers, particularly when resolving discipline issues
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • An unquestionable work ethic and the ability to accomplish established goals

·       Demonstrated ability to work in communities where diverse populations reside

  • A valid driver's license
  • Physical ability to lift at least 30 pounds
  • The ability to concentrate for extended periods of time (several hours) without interruption
  • Experience and knowledge of Boys & Girls Club mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures is a plus


ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is expected to work from an assigned Club location in Columbus, Georgia in a normal office environment with occasional out-of-office meetings visiting the Administrative Office and community partners.

Bus Driver (C.D.L)

Part Time Regular

Club Staff


JOB SUMMARY: 

Drives minibus to transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule, inspects and maintains van; helps with club programs when not driving or maintaining the bus.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Prior to driving

·       Reviews organization’s transportation policy and procedure.

·       Inspects vehicle for gas, oil and water and corrects safety hazards.

·       Obtains and reviews routes.

·       Completes driver/vehicle checklist. 

Passenger Safety

·       Communicates to passengers’ safety rules and expected behavior during travel.

·       Ensures passenger numbers do not exceed available seats.

·       Observes passengers and enforces they’re safely entering/leaving the van. 

During Driving

·       Practices safe driving by adhering to speed limits and local traffic regulations.

·       Maintains order and discipline of club members.

·       Serves as role model for youth. 

After Driving

·       Inspects vehicle and reports safety hazards and maintenance needs.

·       Completes Vehicle Trip Information Report. 

Vehicle Maintenance

·       Insures vehicle is serviced according to service schedule.

·       Inspects vehicle daily for repair and maintenance needs and takes action to resolve problems.

·       Cleans inside of vehicle daily; outside weekly. 

Other Responsibilities

·       Completes incident report on injuries that occur on the bus

·       Reports delays or accidents; completes required reports

·       Assists program instructors when not driving or maintaining Minibus.

·       Participates in training/educational opportunities to expand knowledge and skills. 



SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

·       High School diploma or GED.

·       Must be age 25+.

·       Must have a valid driver’s license.

• Must have a valid medical certificate (pass D.O.T. physical every two years)

• Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and pass testing done at random, post-accident and for reasonable suspicion after employment.

• Must have a CDL Class C valid driver’s license (and certify that a driver’s license only from one state is held and that license is not currently suspended, revoked or canceled an ANY state).

• Safe driving record as documented by a clean seven-year MVR.

• Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to minimum of three years where:

1. Experience driving a vehicle to transport passengers, preferably in a van or minibus, in a city and urban environment required.

• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

• Able to read and interpret written information.

• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.

• Ability to assist in program areas by giving and following instructions and supervising members in a safe environment. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequent travel to Club locations and community partners. Atypical work schedule, including evening and weekend work. The position requires walking and climbing stairs; Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
